Muscle Mass frozen semen available from Stallion Station
Stallion Station is delighted to announce that frozen semen for the World Champion Muscle Mass will be available for breeders in Australia and New Zealand for the first time this season.
Muscle Mass retired as the fastest two-year-old son of supersire Muscles Yankee, Hambletonian winner and sire of the last two ‘Hambo’ winners Deweycheatumnhowe and Muscle Hill, having established his world record mark of 1:53.8 in only his second career start. In doing so, he lowered Chocolatier's two-year-old record by a full second - a world record that still stands. Muscle Mass won five major stakes in an undefeated season at 2 winning all seven of his starts, including back-to-back wins in Lexington and a 10 length track and stakes record in the American-National.
Muscle Mass was a stunning $100,000 yearling and hails from one of harness racing’s most prolific families. He is out of Graceful Touch 2, 1:56.2 ($161,983), a brilliant stakes winning two-year-old herself and a daughter of the sensational ill-fated Valley Victory racemare and producer Act Of Grace 3, 1:52.6 ($403,525). Before her tragic death, Act Of Grace produced stakes winning Cobol 3, 1:54.2 ($411,457) and Graceful Touch from only two foals. The royal breeding of Muscle Mass continues into his third dam Keystone Profile 3, 1:55.2 ($158,064), a stakes winner and dam of Prolific Lady 3, 1:56.4 ($373,925) and Cherished Victory 3, 1:54.8 ($127,675); along with being the dam of several great producing daughters, such as Miss Marita, dam of Passionate Glide 3, 1:52.4 ($2,063,097), Marita's Victory 3, 1:54($666,731) and Mr Vic 3, 1:54.4 ($318,942). It is the immediate family of the great Green Speed 3, 1:55.6 ($953,013) and stakes winner of 37 starts.
In addition to being one of the pre-eminent stakes winning families in harness racing, the maternal family of Muscle Mass is regarded as one of, if not, the top commercial tribes in the industry, having produced in excess of 10 $100,000 yearlings and five $250,000 yearlings including Muscle Mass ($100,000) and his two full brothers Muscle Massive ($425,000), the 2007 Harrisburg sales topper, and Touchdown Town ($320,000), Cobol ($290,000), Graceful Touch ($285,000), Act Of Grace ($125,000), Mr Vic ($110,000), Marita's Victory ($160,000) and Mr Cantab ($325,000).
"Muscle Mass is a spectacular individual that possessed extreme high speed through his long and highly efficient gait. It is unfortunate that his world record performing two-year-old season could not have carried into his three-year-old year due to injury. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to compete against the great Deweycheatumnhowe at 100 percent,” trainer Erv Miller said.
“Muscle Mass was an extremely tough and determined competitor and I believe he will carry his will through to his offspring," The 2009 service fee for Muscle Mass will be $5,500 including GST in Australia and $5,000 plus GST in NZ or $4,950 including GST in Australia or $4,400 plus GST in New Zealand payable on 42 day positive test.
Royal Mattjesty 2YO winners
The first North American crop of the Matt’s Scooter horse Royal Mattjesty is making a big impact in Canadian juvenile racing. From a crop of 57 foals, 23 have raced and three have taken 2:00 records and a further six have qualified.
They are headed up by Bay Girl, a two-year-old filly, who won a $40,000 elimination of the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series at Mohawk in 1:53.8 coming from the tail of the field.
Tigers Mattjesty, a winner at Mohawk in 1:55.4, and Ok Canada 1:59.2, who won a division of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots at Flamboro Downs, were also sired by Royal Mattjesty. |

Safari arrives at farm
Recently retired champion pacer Safari has arrived at Stallion Station in preparation for his first season stud.
The son of legendary sire Fake Left, who won an amazing eleven races at Group or Listed level, has let down into a magnificent individual and we believe that with his excellent bloodlines, great racetrack ability and wonderful temperament, he will command a strong book of mares.
He has already attracted widespread interest from breeders at the realistic stud fee of $1500 including GST.
Safari can be inspected at the farm by appointment. Contact our sales manager Les Joslin on (03) 9746 1322 or 0410 414 671.
Breeders Crown domination
Stallion Station sires are strongly represented in all finals of the two and three-year-old divisions of the Breeders Crown.
Captain Joy (by Mach Three) is the hot favourite for the three-year-old colts and geldings’ final, while the Courage Under Fire pair Lanercost (colt) and Ballandella Baby (filly) are strongly fancied in the two-year-old series.
Ima Spicey Lombo and Lady Belladonna, two daughters of Pacific Fella, are among the leading fancies for the three and two-year-old sections respectively.
All won their respective qualifying heats.
The abovementioned will be joined in the semi-finals by the Mach Three pair Brushgrovemachbest (3YO filly) and Sheza Machstar (2YO filly), who also won their heats in impressive fashion.
Bring on ‘Super Sunday’!
Pacific Fella’s Group success
Pacific Fella’s reputation as a sire of outstanding females was further enhanced when Carlisle Queen captured the $50,000 Group 2 SA Southern Cross 2YO Fillies’ Final at Globe Derby Park.
Pinging straight to the front, Carlisle Queen was given a midrace ‘breather’ by Michael Smith before unleashing a 58.4 seconds last 800 to put paid to her rivals.
Carlisle Queen, who was bred and is raced and trained by Michael’s father George Smith, notched her fourth win from six starts and lifted her earnings to $42,090. She is the first foal of an unraced Albert Albert (son of Abercrombie) mare. Righteous on a roll
The richly bred Western Hanover horse Righteous Hanover can boast some impressive stats with his first small racing crop. As at August 12, he had 16 starters – or 36 percent of his foal crop - for four winners, two placegetters and four unraced trial winners.
