New Zealand Cup Carnival bonanza

What a wonderful week for Stallion Station’s sires at the New Zealand Cup Carnival at Addington!  Our stallions provided seven individual winners over the two days including a treble for Mach Three on Cup Day and a double for Courage Under Fire at the Show Day meeting.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the carnival was Auckland Reactor’s record-breaking win in the $40,000 Firestone Free-for-all (1950 metres) on the Cup Day program.

Auckland Reactor

Sent straight to the front by Mark Purdon, the Mach Three entire was always travelling well within himself and prevailed by an ever-increasing five lengths.

Auckland Reactor stopped the clock in a stunning 2:17.8 – a mile rate of 1:53.7. He finished off in leisurely fractions of 54.8 and 26.9!

The Mach Three colt Sir Lincoln turned in a commanding performance to win the $184,000 Group 1 Sires’ Stakes Series Final for three-year-old colts and geldings.

Settling down third last, Sir Lincoln was sent forward three wide by Maurice McKendry at the 1000 metre mark to sit parked outside the race favourite Kotare Mach. Gaining the upper hand soon after straightening, Sir Lincoln was out on his own at the end scoring eased down by three-and-a-half lengths. Hip Hop Anvil (by Mach Three) finished third.

Sir Lincoln averaged a brilliant 1:55.2 for the 1950 metres with the last 800 in 56.9 and 400 in 28.4. It was his fifth win from six starts this season and boosted his lifetime earnings to $140,715.

The four-year-old Joyfuljoy (by Mach Three), having her first start since winning the Harness Jewels at Ashburton in May, completed a treble for her sire and posted her ninth success in a support race.

Courage Under Fire was the star performer on Show Day with a winning double – Sleepy Tripp and Lancome.

The reigning NZ Derby winner, Sleepy Tripp led throughout from the No. 7 gate to notch his ninth win from 17 starts, while Lancome took a new lifetime mark of 1:57.4 – including a sizzling 55.8 last 800 – in winning her fourth race from nine attempts.

Russley Rascal 1:59.5 (by Mach Three) and Master Bomber (by Armbro Invasion) rounded out the quadrella on Show Day.

Stakes winner for ‘Theory’

The Meadowlands Pace winner Allamerican Theory, who is standing his first season at Stallion Station, received a terrific boost for his stocks with the win of three-year-old Theory’s Hero in the $25,000 Single G Pacing Series Final in 1:53.6 at Indiana Downs.

One of Allamerican Theory’s first small North American crop, Theory’s Hero sent his lifetime earnings past the $100,000 mark with the eighth win of his career.

Five on end for ‘The Drummer’

The Armbro Invasion gelding The Drunken Drummer is the best trotter in New South Wales at the present.

Bred and originally raced in New Zealand, the seven-year-old has the perfect record of five starts for five wins at Harold Park.

Out of a Gee Whiz II mare, The Drunken Drummer put the seal on his career with a convincing win in the $25,000 Australian Trotting Series Final at the Sydney headquarters’ track.

The highly talented Raydon, who won in Free-for-all company at Alexandra Park and has won eight out of 16, is carrying the flag for Armbro Invasion in NZ.

Schinzig a top Fella

The Pacific Fella gelding Schinzig Buller became his sire’s richest ever male performer when he led from end-to-end for a track record-breaking win in the $30,000 Group 3 Narrogin Pacing Cup in November.

Driven by Ryan Bell, the five-year-old rated a smart 1:58.9 for the 2662 metres mobile feature.

The win took his lifetime earnings to $243,701. It was his third Group success, having previously won the $175,000 Group 1 WA Golden Nugget and the $72,900 Group 2 WA Sales Classic.

Schinzig Buller is not the only Pacific Fella progeny hitting the headlines this season.

Mendelico, a four-year-old mare, has strung together a series of successes in Victoria highlighted by a win at Tabcorp Park and a 1:56.9 effort at Bendigo. Bred by Harvey Delmenico, the mare has won six out of nine this season and should continue her march through the grades.

Pacific Fella, a Top Ten sire in 2008/09, has already produced 37 individual winners and $315,000 in progeny earnings this term. Rambooka, 1:58.6 Albion Park winner, Cuzin Judd 1:59.1 (Gloucester Park) and Cam Pacific 1:57.9 (Menangle) were other metropolitan winners sired by Pacific Fella in November.

Mattjesty stock in demand

The stock of world champion two-year-old Royal Mattjesty were in demand at the Harrisburg Black Book sale in November.

Three colts realised $30,000 or more including one for $53,000, while a filly fetched $33,000.

Royal Mattjesty picked up his 14th two-year-old credit from 27 starters when St Lads Cable Guy won in Canada earlier this week.
