Champion trotter Majestic Son joins
Stallion Station roster

Majestic Son, one of the greatest trotters produced in North America and a former Canadian Horse of the Year, is slated to stand the coming season at Stallion Station's Christchurch base, alongside champion sire Mach Three and US Breeders Crown winner Santanna Blue Chip.

Majestic Son
MAJESTIC SON

Boasting a bankroll of $1,993,157, Majestic Son is by far the richest and one of the best credentialled trotters ever to be imported to the Southern Hemisphere.

In 38 career starts, Majestic Son compiled the outstanding record of 22 wins - including six at Group 1 level - five seconds and three thirds. He met and defeated his great archrival Glidemaster (Tr 1:51.2 and $1,968,023) on four occasions in the Champlain Stakes, Goodtimes, Canadian Trotting Classic and Breeders Crown.

As a two-year-old he won in 1:55.8, at Mohawk's seven-eighths mile track, winning five races including the $252,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final.

However, at three he really stepped up. In 19 starts as a three-year-old he won 14 times and collected more than $1.3 million in stakes.

Majestic Son took his record of 1:52.4 at three years, winning the $900,000 Canadian Trotting Classic, in which he defeated US Horse of the Year Glidemaster and Global Glide. His other major successes at three were the $500,000 Breeders Crown, $154,470 Canadian Breeders Championship, $252,540 Goodtimes and three $115,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Finals.

At four in 2007, he won a further three races including the Frank Ryan Memorial Trot in a track and Canadian record time of 1:53 on a five-eighths mile track before injury curtailed his career.

Now in the top bracket as a sire, Angus Hall, the sire of Majestic Son, was one of the greatest sons of Garland Lobell Tr 1:55.6, and he retired from racing with a stake tally of $830,654 and a world two-year-old record. Angus Hall is now the sire of 30 in 1:55 and the winners of almost $40million.

Majestic Son is the richest and second fastest son of Angus Hall.

Celtic Contessa, the dam of Majestic Son, is a King Conch mare out of the very good racemare Ramerizi Tr 1:56.8 ($433,344), who left the world champion and Nat Ray winner Misterizi Tr 1:51 ($410,893).

Majestic Son has served books in excess of 90 mares in his first two seasons at Tara Hills Stud, Ontario, with a stud fee of $Can10,000.

Stakes winners for Righteous

The royally-bred Righteous Hanover was represented by an important winner in Canada during May when Id Rather Be Lucky annexed the $75,350 B. C. Stallion Stake Final for three-year-old fillies at Fraser Downs.

Starting from the No. 9 gate, Id Rather Be Lucky settled in fifth position before being sent forward to race upsides with the leader at the end of the first quarter. After a thrilling stretch duel she managed to get up in the final strides in a career-best clocking of 1:56.

It was her second win and advanced her bankroll to over $40,000.

Bountiful Hanover, a two-year-old gelding and a member of Righteous' first Australian crop, prevailed in a WA State Sires' Series heat at Narrogin for trainer David Thompson.

Having only his second start, Bountiful Hanover overcame a slow getaway to cut down the leader and WA Sales Classic winner Ballas Arockstar in a smart 2:03.9 rate for the 2242m. mobile trip.

Invasion's Cup quinella

Armbro Invasion, whose stock are racing on all fours on both sides of the Tasman, led in the quinella pair in the Thames Trotting Cup at Alexandra Park in Fayanni and Endeavor.

The Albion Park winner Blown Budget and the NZ winners Chas Luney, Cornishman (a double winner at Auckland), Endeavor, Master Bomber, On My Way and Little Floozie Suzy have been other good performers for Armbro Invasion.

Armbro Invasion's stock have earned almost $1.3million during the past 10 months.

Vic. 4YO & 5YO Championship quinella

The $50,000 Group 2 Victorian 4YO and 5YO Championship, run at Moonee Valley on June 5, was a triumph for Stallion Station as we provided the quinella pair, Pacific Charm and Rohan Home.

The Pacific Fella-sired Pacific Charm, fresh off a brave second in the Group 1 Queen of the Pacific, led before electing to trail the pacemaking Rohan Home (by Riverboat King) whom she sprint-laned todefeat by a head. Others among the beaten brigade included Our Malabar, Magic Operative, Esprit De Kayjay and Im Mark Antony, all Group winners.

It was Pacific Charm's 15th lifetime win and her fifth from her last six starts. She boasts stake earnings in excess of $180,000.

"The mare is in the zone, simple as that," co-trainer David Miles said. "Every time she's stepped out of late she's answered another challenge and our dream of having an Inter Dominion runner might be a step closer."

"Rohan Home was the only one we wanted to hand up to anditworked out beautifully.Shesprinted past him quickly and then knocked off but that's her. She never really kills the opposition."

Harness Jewels double

Our flagship sire Mach Three stole the show on New Zealand Harness Jewels Day at Ashburton.

The Matt's Scooter siring sensation provided two Group 1 $200,000 winners in the Mark Purdon trained stablemates in champion Auckland Reactor and three-year-old filly Joyfuljoy, the end-to-end winners of the Emerald and Diamond events respectively.

And, the Mach Three-sired Trigirl Brigade almost pulled off a treble for her sire when she came within a length of winning the $200,000 Diamond for four-year-old mares in a new NZ national record of 1:52.1.

Auckland Reactor, fresh from his win in the $200,000 Group 1 NZ Messenger Championship, pounced straight to the front and was not extended at any stage in winning by three lengths, cutting out the mile in 1:53.8 with a closing stanza in an amazing 25.4 seconds.

For Joyfuljoy it was her second win at Group 1 level this season, having taken out the $150,000 NZ Sires' Stakes 3YO Fillies Championship at Alexandra Park in December.

In winning by more than a length, Joyfuljoy established a new lifetime record of 1:54.4 including a sizzling 54.9 seconds last half and 26.2 final quarter. She has won eight races as a three-year-old and $287,455 in stakes.

Not to be outdone, Courage Under Fire was represented by five minor placegetters on Jewels Day in Courage To Rule (2YO colts & geldings), Lancome (2YO fillies), Sleepy Tripp (3YO colts & geldings), Pembrook Benny (4YO entires & geldings)and Eyecatcher Courage (4YO mares).

They amassed a staggering $141,000 in stakes between them!

Courage's classic winner

The lightly raced filly Maggie Kennedy became Courage Under Fire's latest classic winner when she divebombed her rivals to win the $25,000 (Listed) Tasmanian Sweepstakes Final at Hobart.

Three weeks earlier she annexed the time-honoured Tasmanian Blue Bonnet at Launceston at her first start.

Out of a Kotare Knight mare, Maggie Kennedy is easily the best of her dam's four progeny of racing age.

Courage Under Fire has sired 16 individual two-year-old winners to date this season - 11 in Australia and five in New Zealand - and is riding high on the Sires' tables in both countries.
