AUCKLAND REACTOR to Stand at Stallion Station

Auckland Reactor yesterday began preparation for the next phase of his career at stud. Peter Hefferring of Tara Hills Stud confirmed that champion NZ pacer Auckland Reactor was in quarantine to re enter New Zealand and will stand at Stallion Station for the upcoming breeding season.

Despite reports to the contrary, no decision has been made as to Auckland Reactor's future racing career. At the moment his only real job will be in the breeding barn. Danny Boyle, marketing manager at Stallion Station NZ stated that he was excited at the prospect of having such a champion as part of the team and had already been fielding queries based on the rumour that 'the Reactor' was standing at Stallion Station. No one could forget his blistering pace and everything he achieved on the track here in New Zealand. He amassed $1.5m in earnings including 25 wins and was undefeated as a 3yo, twice earning the NZ Harness Horse of the year.

Breeders Crown Triumph

The result of the $188,000 Australasian Breeders Crown Final for three-year-old colts and geldings, the Premier event on the $1.56million ‘Super Sunday’ program at Tabcorp Park, was a triumph for Stallion Station.

Stallion Station provided five of the 12 finalists and three of the first four placegetters in the Group 1 decider.

Devil Dodger, a son of Mach Three, came from third last at the bell with a booming finishing flourish to snatch a last-stride win in a 1:56.6 rate for the 2240 metres, cutting out his 800 metres three and four wide in a blazing 55.8 seconds.

A pair of Courage Under Fire’s progeny, Courage To Rule and Lanercost – both Derby winners -- finished third and fourth respectively, while Franco Jamar (by Courage Under Fire) wound up seventh after being disappointed for racing room in the home straight.

Devil Dodger became the third Breeders Crown champion sired by Mach Three. He also produced the winner of the two-year-old colts’ final in 2008, Captain Joy, and the three-year-old fillies’ final in the same year in Muscle Beach.

Armbro Invasion, another of Stallion Station’s ‘team’, figured as the dam sire of the impressive winner of the $50,000 Group 1 Breeders Crown Final for four-year-old trotters.

To cap a great day for Stallion Station, Riverboat King’s son Rohan Home captured the $60,000 Group 2 Breeders Crown Graduate Free-for-All bring his life time earnings to $315,515 and Queen Of Fire (by Courage Under Fire) finished a close second in the $100,000 Group 1 Breeders Crown Final for four-year-old mares.

Stallion Station sires pocketed a whopping $208,700 on the 10-race card.
